We have taken our son to 4 Rick Heinz camps in 4 different locations in the past 3 summers. We are always impressed at how the camp is run and the consistency of high level training at each location. The way the staff is trained and able to work with a group of kids, while still being able to personalize the instruction around each individuals needs is outstanding and one of the main reasons we highly recommend the Rick Heinz program to anyone looking for a great place to develop their game in a positive environement.

Thank you Rick Heinz!
We want to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the phenomenal goalie program and constant support of our son. Three years ago William wanted to become a goalie, we chose Rick Heinz as his first school, and have been loyal ever since due to his rapid development. We had no expectations, and William started in house league, now with all the help from the Rick Heinz team, he has earned a spot at the AAA level.
A true sign of a great program is when a player is eager to attend, whether it is a camp, power skating or team session, and William looks forward toevery Rick Heinz session. We highly recommend Rick Heinz Goalie School and any programming they are involved with no matter what your skill level is.
Thanks,

Dear Rick Heinz Camp Team,
My son recently went to goalie camp in Owen Sound and had a terrific time! He started playing goal a year and a half ago, and loves it. At Christmas we started looking for a goalie camp close to home, as driving great distances to larger centres is impractical for our family, and he is too young to be boarded away for a week or more. We found the Rick Heinz Goalie Camp listing for Owen Sound and immediately registered. Jamie was extremely excited and has looked forward to this camp for months. I am happy to say that he was right to be so thrilled! He said that the counsellors were “really nice,” that he loved the chance to meet other young goalies and learn from them and that the counsellors helped him “step by step to get better.” Jamie feels that he has improved and that he is a better goalie now than he was a week ago. As a parent, I appreciated the coaches’ supportive and encouraging approach with the students, while at the same time challenging them to do better both on and off the ice. I was especially happy to see them push Jamie to take responsibility for his equipment and getting himself ready. As a step on the road to independence, this is an important “life lesson.” Moreover, I found the coaches to be very friendly and approachable, especially Kevin, who took time to explain situations and revise scenarios as needed. It was especially fun to have an awards ceremony at the end of the week, that parents could attend. Each goalie’s strengths were celebrated and everyone went home with feedback and suggestions to continue improving their skills. As a family, we are very happy with the skills taught at the camp, the feedback provided, the positive and supportive atmosphere and the great memories created. Thank you for a wonderful week, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!

"My son attended Rick Heinz Goalie Camp for his second year this summer and came home extremely excited again about ice hockey! The coaches are very patient and informative while breaking down skills in to pieces that can be remembered by players even at the mite/squirt level. They do all this while maintaining a fun environment for the kids to learn valuable skills to not only make them more successful in the net, but safer too as they are learning the correct way to tend goal. He enjoyed the program so much he wanted to attend again the following week!"

The Rick Heinz goalie program taught me the skills that eventual led to a DIII National Championship (2014). I learned to be aggressive, play the puck and many other skills, that caused opponents lots of trouble in scoring goals. I also learned how to control my mental game by learning to recognize my mistakes. Whenever I allowed a goal, I replayed it in my head as if I stopped it. Then, I moved on. Most importantly, the goalie program taught me how to identify correct technique, even when I didn’t have a coach around. For this reason, I was able to make mental checks during practices and games. My growth over the years with this program cannot be measured, nor how much fun I had.

My son has attended Rick Heinz Goalie Training for three years. He attended other goalie camps in the past however, no other trainers delivered the attention to detail or had the connection with the students the way the Rick Heinz team does. Great work guys , Thank You!
James Forbes, goalie Dad.
Training at Rick Hienz for the past couple of years is a big reason why my daughter has improved her game and has gone from house league to REP in 1 season. She comes off the ice after games and practices saying that the skills that she has been taught have really helped. The instructors have broken down her game and helped her improve on areas where she needs to. She is pushed to do her best evertime she steps on the ice, and the positive re-enforcement she receives has done wonders for her confidence. After attending camp's/lesson's, Shaina leaves knowing that her game is going to continue to improve by using what she is learning. The programs have done a lot for Shaina over the past few years and she looks forward to continuing her training with it for years to come!

My daughter Emma started playing hockey when she was 9 years old. Before practice one day she asked if she could be the goalie. The first time she strapped the pads on and stepped on the ice I knew that this was her calling. She loves the sport of hockey and she loves being a goalie.
At age 11 I decided it was time for her to take the next step and go to camp. I spent several hours online trying to find a goalie school that was going to teach her the fundamentals of the position. After talking to people from different camps, I decided that I was going to send her to the Rick Heinz Goalie School.
Sending Emma to the Rick Heinz camp is one of the best decisions I have made. She needed a lot of work and the first day was a struggle for my daughter. However, one of the instructors pulled her aside and spent the majority of the day working with her 1-on-1. The difference from the first day to the last day was amazing. It’s been two years now since she attended the camp, but the foundation she built during that week still resides with her today. So I just wanted to say thank you to the Rick Heinz Goalie School and his staff for taking the extra time to help my daughter!

I want to send you a huge thank-you. Last year was my sons first ever year playing hockey, he was first year of novice. He had an opportunity to play goalie for five or so games throughout the season for his local league team and fell in love with the position. Last summer he attended your Goderich school and learned a lot and improved a great amount all while having a lot of fun. He was able to win the most improved player award at your school. In the fall he was chosen as the novice rep goalie, beating out four other goalies for the spot. Tonight his team finished the sweep of their WOAA championship series and he is extremely proud and happy. We owe a lot to your school and staff. Thank-You immensely and we can't wait for the school again this summer!!

Kudos to the Rick Heinz team. I've coached almost 30 years now and have seen my share of training and practices. I've had the privilege of working with the RH player and goalie schools for over a decade. I have no reservations recommending the program to any of my goalies and those I've worked with. Having coached numerous levels, from house to AAA to men's competition teams, as well being immersed in other demanding athletics, I applaud Tim's spearheading modern goalie instruction. The program emphasizes teaching the technical game, reinforcing a required grasp of a host of fundamentals and then amplifying and challenging the net minder with the latest in goaltending principles. The staff is always open to sharing tricks of the trade and offer keen insight on a goalies' current needs: this trait is a breath of fresh air.
In addition Kevin, a mainstay of the RH program, is a treasure: all the campers that have attended, from beginner to elite, (as well as the camp instructors) enjoy his lessons, training and camaraderie. The RH staff certainly exemplify what teaching a sport is all about. The personal attention each goalie receives through tape reviews, on and off ice instruction is marvelous. The RH training reflects its core values: teaching, hard work and fun. Counselors are hand picked for nor only their skill set, but their ability to communicate and work with diverse age groups of various skill levels. On a professional and personal level, I can't offer any higher praise to the organization; Thanks and fantastic job, gents!!!

I have been playing goal for 10 years but realized that I never took the time to focus properly on the basics and fundamentals of goaltending. Three years ago was my first encounter with the Rick Heinz Goalie School and after attending only one week of the Kitchener Elite Camp I noticed considerable improvement in my skills and adapted new techniques that complement my style of play. I find that every ice session is a better experience than the last and that I was able to establish and achieve new goals with the help of the Rick Heinz Goalie School. With the help of the program and a lot of hard work, I was invited to attend the Oshawa Generals main camp as a free agent and am now playing junior hockey. I am very happy with everything that the program and staff offer.

We have 4 goalies in our household….we have been to many different camps with many different instructors over the years with good results. That being said, I discovered the Rick Heinz Goalie School through on-line research this past summer and took a gamble on switching things up for my boys. Prior to that, I had no idea about the Rick Heinz program. The Rick Heinz Goalie school program has provided my children with the best goalie instruction we’ve experienced to date. They are great guys, giving great behavioural instruction on many different levels. My sons are extremely happy with the teachings and instructional guidance they are getting from the team through the summer camp, and seasonal goalie power skating. If this were a Trip Advisor review we would vote 5 Stars out of 5.

I would like to thank Rick Heinz Hockey School, for the great job they do. My son is now playing his second year in net and after training with the program, his performance and confidence in net has really increased. The skills and techniques that he is being taught are making a big difference in games. Recently Ethan was asked to play for the novice select team- thanks to the training he has received. Thanks so much

Excellent! Is all I have to say about the Rick Heinz Goalie development program! This was our first year between the pipes, and starting goal is no easy task, and being good at it is even harder. From the first day of hockey to last day of training (this season) with the Rick Heinz program it was like watching our son become a goalie, instead of watching our son wanting! to be a goalie. In our last year of house league hockey our son got a taste of being a goaltender by substituting when our Rep baseball player/goalie couldn’t make it to the games. He loved it so much he begged us to get him goalie equipment and sign him up to be the goalie. After watching him in net I thought to myself (My wife would kill me if I said it aloud) there was no way I was going to spend any money on goalie equipment until he at least showed some talent or skill or anything that made him not! Look like a fish out of water in big bulky pads. Once we started with Tim and his crew From Rick Heinz a few hour long lessons he started learning how to skate better skate faster with all the goalie equipment on, right away they started what I believe was skill level training (he was being trained according to HIS skills not of his age group) he started making saves look easy so I started to watch even closer than normal during his training, all the skating drills were not simply teaching him how to move, but also to be in THE CORRECT position because with hours of hard work in fun atmosphere he was learning about the oh so critical ANGLE and thought he was just there to play. That’s when I noticed they were teaching him how to be a goalie not just look like one. By half way threw his first season as a goaltender we were approached by a select team and asked if we would be interested in joining them on their tournament team. Although I know he is not an all star goalie YET! I am confidant that with the training he has been getting from Rick Heinz’s Goalie Development Training he will be able to play at a very competitive level.

I coach a Minor Bantam AAA team where the Rick Heinz team has been working with both our goalies all year. We have seen a big change in their performance and their confidence over the year. Both goalies when you ask what they have worked on are so excited when they explain ,that is a great sign of a great teacher. I highly recommend the Rick Heinz Goalie School to any team or individual.

Our son, Nic, has been playing minor hockey since 'Tyke' level. He is now in his 2nd year of PeeWee. Although his position has always been 'centre', he has had a desire to play in the footsteps of his idol, Martin Brodeur. Without even so much as stepping onto the ice in goalie skates before, we outfitted him with all the necessary equipment and registered him for a week of Rick Heinz Goalie School this past summer at our local arena. The training was intense, yet our son thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We can't thank the organizers and coaches of Rick Heinz Hockey School enough for all that they have taught our son. He has settled into his new position as 'goalie' remarkably well, and in the words of other coaches, looks as though he has been playing this position for years. He looks like a natural.
Nic has asked if he can sign up for the Goalie Camp again this summer, and the answer is an absolute 'yes'!
Thanks again for everything your organization has taught my son in his new role of goaltender. What an amazing job you have done!! See you in the summer.

My 7 year old son Tyler attended the Rick Heinz Goalie School for the first time in July 2011. It was a good opportunity for him to strengthen his skills, learn new techniques and challenge himself against other goalies his age. The instructors were great at making him feel comfortable in a new environment and continuously providing him with encouragement. Tyler won one of the shoot-out competitions and the coach praised him by lifting him into the air while his team mates cheered, moments like that build confidence in a child that is priceless. Thanks goes to Rick Heinz staff and program for providing an organized, fun and effective teaching program that has strengthened my son’s passion for hockey.

Today was our last day of camp, Our kids were very very happy, they had the experience of their lives.
The coaches were really great people and excellent instructors. All the drills on Ice were amazing and the video analysis helped the kids a lot, through looking at their skating strides and shooting mechanics
I am very happy and thankful of choosing your camp, I don't know how to say it, but hope is like this...I congratulate you and your coaches!!!!! By far this was the best Day camp that we saw at the rink.
Thank you very much for all. And I hope we can see you next year.

This is the second year my son has attended Rick Heinz Goalie Camp and by his own admission, it was the best ever. He has attended other camps besides these in the past but for many reasons this one was far superior. My first observation is regarding the level of organization of the camps. They appear to be well thought out in terms of time management as well as highly progressive - individual skills are first demonstrated, practiced and then worked into more complex concepts/drills. Second, the attention to the students appears highly personalized. Some participants receive extra attention in some areas where it is observed to be necessary for progression of the skill. Next, the instruction appears to be appropriately technical. The reason for drills is made clear and related to skills necessary for the game. For example, in many instructional situations outside this camp my son was shown where he needed to be positioned and sometimes why. At this camp not only was he shown where he needed to be and the reason explained, he was instructed how to do it. As I see it, this is the fundamental instruction necessary for proper and effective techniques and successful goaltending. Finally, despite the primary intention of the camp (to improve goaltenders) an atmosphere of fun, camaraderie and sportsmanship was always apparent between not only the players but also the players and the instructors. In my opinion if this were not the case none of the rest of the camp would have been as effective.
I also want to extend a special thanks to Tim who was the instructor of my son's group. His approach was especially effective with my son who can be a challenge to keep focused and motivated, like most 12 year olds. The drills Tim ran were not only run at the appropriate level/pace for my son's skill level (and likewise for the other members of the group), he never allowed the drill to end until he saw the techniques being executed correctly. This highly focused, customized and patient approach are sure to have long lasting and positive results on his students.

Our 15 yr old son has attended Rick Heinz quite consistently over the past 5 - 6 years, and we find the program just keeps getting better. He really enjoyed working with the head instructor at last year's camp and learned a lot. Tanner likes receiving his report card at the end of the camp so he can refer to it for things he needs to be aware of and try to improve upon throughout the season. The video instruction is very helpful and he enjoys the off ice training and demonstrations throughout the week as well. He has learned a great deal in a short period of time when he attends this camp, and enjoys working with the well qualified instructors. He is really looking forward to trying the Elite camp this summer. Keep up the good work!

My son Colt attended the Rick Heinz goalie camp in Milton, Ontario during the summer of 2010. Colt very much liked the camp instructors and found the goalie drills offered at the Rick Heinz goalie camp to be very helpful in advancing his skills as a goalie. Colt enjoyed the camp immensely, he look forward to attending it daily and often said how much fun it was too!
During Colts 2010/11 regular hockey season as a goalie on the Bantam Rep team for our area. Colt furthered his training by working with a Rick Heinz instructor weekly in a private training session. The instructor and instruction were great! Colt found Tim's teaching abilities and personal knowledge on goalie technique and skills to be highly beneficial. Colt is grateful to Tim for his ability to push Colt in working very hard and enabling him to achieve greater mobility and understanding of his position as a goalie. Tim has also been a great asset in helping Colt's self confidence on and off the ice. As any parent of a goalie would agree, self confidence in such a tough position is key! Much gratitude to the Rick Heinz program for all its help!

Just want to say thank you for bringing your program to our area. Our son requested that we send you a note to say thanks for all that you did to help him develop his on and off ice skills. We really enjoyed the professionalism of your staff and program. We will be signing him up again this year. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Sometimes a thank-you just isn't enough, this is how we feel about the Rick Heinz Goalie School.
Our 13 year old son has been to 3 consecutive summer camps and each year he has come out a better goalie. He enjoys the drills, enjoys being challenged and has realy learned alot about a tough position. We have even gone further by having a Rick Heinz instructor come to my son's team practices and work with the 2 goalies, the benefits have been enormous. Thanks again for teaching what you know so well.

I credit The Rick Heinz Goalie Program for the success my daughter has had going from a better than average house league goalie to a solid net minder in a BB rep system in a period of less than a year. Her first summer at a Rick Heinz school, she unlearned some bad habits and retained a lot of skills that upped her performance at the house league level and she rarely lost a game the following season.
After making the rep team this past spring, she returned to a Rick Heinz clinic and developed better and more skills in preparation for season. Her level improvement has been and continues to be phenomenal. The Rick Heinz team provides an atmosphere of support and professionalism that encourages participants to attain higher levels of skill. Work ethic and team work is emphasized, as well as the skills drills, and participants leave the clinic with new skills as well as better attitude and enthusiasm.
